MADA Policies

1. Tuition is due the last day of the previous month and must be paid in full by the 1st of the current month. A late fee of $35 will be applied after the 5th day of the month if full payment is not received. Students will not be able to participate in future classes until accounts are resolved. TUITION IS NON-REFUNDABLE.

2. Tuition is figured on a 12-month attendance, and will not be prorated for absences. If a dancer is absent due to illness or injury, makeup classes are allowed to be used within 30 days of the absence. A $35 fee applies to all returned check fees. No tuition transfers, credits, or refunds allowed.

3. Those who pay tuition in advance; i.e. paying for an entire year upfront, can only be applicable for that calendar year and not applicable for use after that calendar year is over.

4. Students will have the opportunity to participate in yearly studio recitals and community performances. All recital fees are non-transferable and non-refundable.

5. Scheduled make-up classes will expire after a 12 month period.

6. A MADA director and our teaching staff will evaluate and place each student in the appropriate class/classes for their level. Students must first consult a director and teacher if they feel ready for a level change.

7. Students will follow MADA dress code. (See Dress Code Tab) Failure to comply with the dress code will result in loss of participation privileges.

MADA Dress Code

We have a dress code in place to ensure our instructors are able to see proper body alignment and movement in classes. Having a dress code also promotes unity and shows a commitment to high personal and professional standards in the studio. Think of the clothes and shoes you need and wear in the studio as gear and tools for your sport. Just as other athletes may need helmets and pads, dancer athletes need appropriate attire and proper shoes.

Female students are required to wear a leotard and tights to all Ballet classes. Shorts or leggings and a fitted top may be worn for jazz, tap, hip hop, and contemporary, and during their conditioning portion of class. Tights can be pink or black for ballet classes. NOTE* During the summer we have been lenient with these guidelines due to the heat but for the fall and winter seasons we will be enforcing dress code adherence. Male students are required to wear black tights, or black bike shorts and a fitted black or white top or tank in ballet and may wear black or nude ballet slippers. For all other genre classes, male students are required to wear fitted athletic pants or shorts and fitted tops with the appropriate shoes.

All students are required to purchase the proper shoes for their genre classes and a clean pair of athletic training shoes that are only worn in the studio.

Ballet: Capezio Hanami (Pink for girls and tan for boys) Please no black ballet shoes.

Jazz: Bloch Neoflex Tan unless Black is required for specific dances.

Tap: Dancers over Level 2/3 tap need Bloch Jason Samuel Smith Hard sole tap shoes. All other levels require a non split sole leather tap shoe (Bloch or Capezio)

Contemporary/Lyrical: Capezio Sophia Lucia Half Shoe (Nude)

Hip Hop/conditioning: Clean sneakers that have not been worn outside.

Hair for all classes must be securely pulled back, away from the face and off of the neck. Ponytails and buns are highly recommended. If a male student has long hair, please secure it away from the face. For contracted team female ballet students, hair must be styled into a slick bun with the use of both bobby pins and a hair net and without stray hairs or bangs. This has been a recurring issue for several of our dancers so please be prepared when coming to class. Also, jewelry is not permitted in any classes. Rings and necklaces are a safety hazard and must be removed before students enter class. Non-dangling earrings are allowed to be worn as long as they aren’t a distraction for the student.

Absolutely no jeans, clothes with metal accents/zippers, or street shoes are permitted to be worn on the dance floor at any time
